What is Amenorrhea?

Amenorrhea is simply a lack of periods

Symptoms:
  • Not having your period for 3 months
  • Not starting your period until 15 years of age

Causes: 
  • Pregnancy is a major cause of Amenorrhea
  • An underlying condition that messes with ovulation
  • Menopause
  • Breast-feeding

Treatments:
  • Hormone therapy
  • Treating the underlying condition

Statistics: 
  • Amenorrhea not caused by pregnancy, breastfeeding, or menopause, occurs in 2-3% of women

  • You haven't had a period in three months
  • You are 15 and haven't started your period yet
