4/16/2018 0 Comments Dear Nina: a poem by my sisterNina,
You fight and try to push through, you will never let it get the best of you. I know sometimes we are in doubt, but you're telling the truth and you want to shout, shout and tell the world about. Some people don't understand how affecting, how painful it can be but they need to think, they need to see they all played their volleyball game, you stayed at home trying to contain, all of the excruciating, non-answered pain Finally, they found what all the pain was about. While kids were out playing in the snow, you stayed inside on your own. While snowflakes were falling on their noses, you stayed inside fighting endometriosis. While the others were outside sniffing the flowers, the lilies, the daisies, and dancing in rain showers, everyone having fun, smelling the freshly cut roses, you were with them too, Trying to hide endometriosis. Although they may not believe you, we all know its true; know that it's not an excuse, it can be hard to do the things that a normal teenager would do. You know, you're not alone. There are other girls crying, telling the doctors "I am trying! There is something in me, that's causing me pain, why wont you hear me? I am not insane!" So let your grief and sorrow be written as a novel; let your story, yourself, become a role model. There are lots of questions that are unanswered. but you have a diagnosis: its the unbelievable, life-changing, endometriosis. This is a beautiful poem written by my 12 year old sister. She read it to me on Christmas as my gift, and it moved me to tears. It hurts me so much to see how much this disease affects my family. I wish I could take away the burden from them. If I have to live through this, I wish it didn't hurt the people around me as well. Anyway, I needed to share this because it was one of the best gifts I have ever received.
