8/19/2018 0 Comments The Wonders of CBD...I have been contemplating how and when to write this post, but there has been some demand recently, and I am completely bored, so I figured it would be a perfect time :)
In June, I had been in pain for about seven years and nothing was helping. The severe pelvic pain seemed to be controlled enough with pills and a heating pad... but the back pain. The chronic, nagging pain in my spine was what pushed me over the top a few times. I have had a couple serious panic attacks because of this pain. It was like my back was on the brink of popping, but never would. It didn't even go away when the vertebrae really did pop. Over the years I have tried many, many things. I went to multiple spine doctors, multiple sports medicine doctors, many sessions of PT, and tried so many medications. Still, nothing worked. After talking to mom for a little bit, the idea of CBD oil came up. It is still a very controversial topic, but that's the main reason I am writing this: to show how amazing it can be. First of all, mom was worried it would show up in a drug test, and as a lifeguard and pre-med student, she was worried I may lose my job or chance at becoming a doctor. After doing more research, I found out that you can get CBD oil without THC, which is the component that would show up in a drug test, and the component that gets you high. Plus, you could also get CBD with a small amount of THC that would not be significant enough to completely ruin your drug test. As the oil with THC is more for anxiety, I opted just for the THC-free oil, just to be safe. I would also like to say, I do not use the oil to vape and I do not smoke pot, as many assume that is what CBD oil is. To each his own, but that is not for me. I simply take half a dropper under my tongue 2-3 times a day, depending on my pain levels. Easy peasy. Plus, it tastes like peppermint! Although we were no longer worried about the social aspects, we were worried about side effects or interactions with other medication. So, I did some more research. Turns out, it doesn't interact with any (known) medications, and there are no (known) side effects! Obviously, this oil needs some more research, but this was good enough for me, and everyone I knew who took it, swore by it. I figured I would give it a shot. I first bought my oil from a very expensive company from the UK, but because of the 2 week shipping and the extreme prices, I had to start looking elsewhere. When I ran out one night, my mom and I drive around Lansing looking for dispensaries or vape shops that would sell CBD oil to me. I got told a ton of different things. A few places told me I cannot purchase it because I am a minor, a few told me I need my medical marijuana card, and one even told me it's illegal to have in the US. I was very confused and upset because the pain was coming back strong. That's when an amazing coincidence occurred. My mom had stashed some CBD oil business cards in her purse from the different places we had visited on that... "adventure." On the day I graduated, caught up in all the commotion, my mom sat her purse down and forgot about it. A lady named Michelle had found my mom's purse. I went to school with her son and we used to have some mutual friends when we were younger, but I was not too familiar with his mom. Michelle decided to look in my mom's wallet to see who it belonged to. She brought the purse to my mom and my mom, embarrassed, started explaining why she had so much information about medical marijuana in her purse, because, if you knew my mom, that would be a really odd thing to see. That is when Michelle started explaining that just a few weeks before, she had started selling CBD oil. It was fate. A person we knew, in our small community of Bath, was re-introduced because of a clumsy mistake. CBD oil has changed my life. For the first time in seven years, I went a month without complaining of back pain. I am able to sit for longer periods of time, even without a back to the chair. I can sleep easier (if I remember to take my night time dose), and I feel better overall. If I miss a dose, my body tells me. I can no longer sit for very long, or I toss and turn all night. CBD oil has been a saving grace, especially this summer before I start college. I used to have so much anxiety about having pain at school, but I really don't worry about it much anymore, and that alone gives me so much relief. If you have any questions about CBD oil, feel free to reach out to me! The email on the bottom of the page works great for questions!! Thanks for reading guys. When I see how many people view my posts, I feel like I can really make a difference in the world. My last post just reached 500 views and that makes my day!!
